Creating an Account

The Account Creation Process:

Once you have the details to sign-up there are 5 steps in the account creation process:

  1. Enter your business details

  2. Connect your accounting platform

  3. Select the expense and payout accounts

Enter your business details

The first step in creating an account with Marmalade is providing us with the details of your business.

This step should be completed by an authorised representative and the email will be the primary email on the account moving forward.

Please ensure the business details match the details in your accounting platform and that your password is strong and unique.

Connect your accounting platform

Now that your account has been created we'll need you to connect your accounting platform.

We do this to learn more about your business needs so we can confirm that it can be supported. We’ll also use this connection to know when you issue new invoices to your customers and to update your accounting records when you receive a payment via Marmalade.

To connect your accounting platform:

  1. Choose the appropriate accounting provider (note: we currently support Xero and Quickbooks Online)
  2. Select the organisation you wish to connect and select ‘Allow Access’
  3. Select the bank account you’d like to receive payments into

Select the expense and payout accounts

Marmalade automatically reconciles transactions and cash-in fees in your accounting software. In order to do this, we need the details of the applicable expense account.

The expense account is the account you’d like to use to reconcile the Marmalade cash-in fees to (you can change this later).

The payout account will be the bank account we record as being paid when an invoice is cashed-in or a payment is reconciled to a non-cashed-in invoice.
